2025 YOUTH ART FINALISTS
Design 1: Sunrise River Ride
ARTIST STATEMENT: This artwork was inspired by the Great Barrier Reef and the early morning bike riding trails along the pioneer river. Mackay displays some beautiful sun rises across the ocean and river. This is why my artwork included all of these features.
Design 2: Tropical Cycle
ARTIST STATEMENT: My artwork is a representation Mackay area and depicts two riders riding along a beach at sunset. This artwork was inspired by the Mackay region's landscape. I used BMA colours to enhance my design and to create a realist sunset scene. I was inspired to create my design because I enjoy creating designs and entering in these local competitions.
Finalist 3: The Rise and Ride
ARTIST STATEMENT: I created this artwork for the River 2 Reef Ride Festival because I love how our Mackay region looks from above. Our mountains, river, and ocean all connect, with the farmland forming neat grids around them. I wanted to show the sun rising over the land because that’s when the ride starts, and it always makes me feel motivated to push myself harder. Waking up early and cycling through our beautiful community while the sunrise lights everything up is my favourite part of the ride. I hope my design captures that feeling!
